with pink sweat$’s 17 playing at full volume in your airpods and a mug full of hot cocoa in both of your hands, you felt like you were in some romantic film. normally you’d hate the summer rain, since it always seemed to ruin any plans you had, but being stuck inside this moving train with thirteen hours left with nothing to do but binge watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine reruns on Hulu and take occasional naps made you realize that maybe it wasn’t all too bad- maybe there was some beauty in things that you hated. Rain drops pelted the train window as you stared out into the setting sun, creamsicle skies mixing with a vital red that brought your nerves to a halt at the scenery behind the glass. “Talk to me, I’m here, what’s wrong?” He was pleading with you like a lost puppy, you weren’t in the mood to deal with it anymore and decided to just shut up until his hand touched yours… that’s when you realised- you were utterly in love, it didn’t matter that he pissed you off- he still mattered so much to you. “No! I’m not okay!” You threw his arm off your shoulder and tried to walk away from him, but his stubborn ass wouldn’t leave you alone. “You okay?” The boy seemed concerned, he actually seemed concerned, that’s new, considering he ignored you for the past 45 minutes. “Y/l/n, Jesus, wait up!” Eddie put a hand to your shoulder, panting as he chased after you, but you tried to ignore him, “What?” You spoke harshly to him, your eyes sad, about to break down right in front of him. How your mind was ready but you were to insecure to do so… The split second the bell rang you were off your seat and ready to go straight to your next class- pissed as you were, you soon realised that until you were allowed to go home, you’d have to endure every class with Eddie until then. You wanted to tell him how you felt, you were about to burst at any given moment and yell it for the whole school to hear, but you remained quite, what a contrast. You called his name and it’s like he’s not even there, how dumb and stupid is he in this moment. “Munson? Hello? Earth to Eddie!” You and Dustin each snapped your fingers to snap him back to reality, you were secretly pissed. She was a senior, same year as Eddie and yourself, peaking in high school, with her perfect charm and perfect face, she was too perfect for her own good, wait… no… you can’t be jealous can you? Certainly not! Why would Eddie have anything to do with her? You’re just overreacting is all. Eddie sat staring over at one of the jock tables, where some cheerleaders sat, you averted your eyes to whom he was looking at and realised it was nobody other than Harriet Wilcox co-cheer captain.
As you walked into the crowded room, filled with all the cliques and food, you made your way to the designated table assigned to you, ‘the freaks’, Jeff and Gareth must’ve been held back for detention yet again, so now you were stuck with Mike and Dustin by your side, yelling about some dumb thing that happened 3 years ago, you didn’t know the boys that well but they could always seem to make you laugh.
